As a Data Engineer with an agile mindset you will contribute to the design, configuration, enhancement, and integration of products that meet the requirements of data governance organizations in the business units.  You will evaluate emerging technologies and facilitate enterprise initiatives and compliance with regulatory directives. Your efforts will enable data citizens across Capital Group gain insights from data assets and drive decisions that help millions of people in realizing their financial goals.

You will be responsible for delivering and maintaining data technologies that support metadata management, data governance, and data quality. You will support and enhance the current technology suite – Collibra and Ab Initio – and integration with enterprise applications using technologies such as Python and Mule, as well as help adopt new technologies as Capital Group’s needs for data governance and metadata management evolve.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
  • You have the business acumen, analytical abilities, and technical skills in translating business objectives into clearly defined requirements and solutions.
  • You have at least 5+ years of experience with diverse data technologies. Product engineering experience with Collibra and Ab Initio desired.
  • Your background includes experience in data architecture and ER/DDD/ORM design in industry standard databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL). You also have experience in writing and optimizing advanced SQL queries with large-scale, complex data sets.
  • You have experience in software delivery with Agile methods and System Life Cycle Management tools – Confluence, JIRA, Bit bucket/Git, Bamboo/Jenkins, XL Deploy, etc.
  • You have experience in cloud-first design, preferably AWS or Azure. Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java) required.
  • You have experience with delivery of file-based, API, and/or streaming integration across applications. Experience with Mulesoft, Informatica or Microsoft SSIS ETL, desired.
  • You have experience with Linux and Windows OS for product installation and configuration, and understanding of networking topologies and technologies, as well as security.
  • You have experience with reporting/data visualization tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and/or SSRS.
