As a Data Engineering Manager, you will partner with Analytics and Data Science teams acting as a hands-on technical leader and subject matter expert in developing data pipelines, solutions that enables timely and accurate decisions and insights generation. You have a passion and hands-on knowledge in data engineering, big data and cloud computing.  Your career has been built upon successfully delivering solutions, while leading teams and growing a talented and skilled workforce.  Your scope will include leading a team of data engineers and will be expected to manage, coach and oversee their development, growth and effective performance.

 

You will own data and advance analytics solutions across multiple business capabilities/domains and will lead strategy and roadmaps for the end-to-end products in data and analytics portfolio, integrating with business effectively.  You will play a critical role in providing expert technical guidance to key Business and IT stakeholders by articulating solution options, tradeoffs, risks, and alignment to business and technology/architecture strategy.  Your expertise will influence the partnership with the Business, other ITG teams and vendors to successfully deliver and run solutions.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer science or other technical fields
  • You have a minimum of 4-8 years of experience managing and mentoring data engineering teams
  • Your background includes extensive development experience with large scale DBs and big data platforms such Hadoop, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Microsoft MPP
  • You have experience with cloud-first design approach and working knowledge of cloud architectures and services, AWS and/or Azure
  • You have proven experience in building data pipelines for both structured and unstructured data, including streaming and data lake centric architectures
  • You have strong knowledge and hands on expertise with Python, Spark, Kafka and scripting languages
  • You have extensive hands on knowledge of Big data stack, including turning, modeling, organizing and querying big data, i.e. Hive, MapReduce, Hbase, Oozie, Airflow
  • You have experience writing and optimizing advanced SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Your background includes strong data analysis, data modelling, visualization skills; knowledge of tools like Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx
  • You are a technical expert in transforming engineering teams with respect to CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile
  • You exhibit strong coaching and mentoring skills, including ability to review and provide feedback on designs and code, and promote data engineering practices  
  • You have experience with data science techniques including automating data science models, understanding of model development and deployment lifecycle
  • You have experience in troubleshooting infrastructure bottlenecks across storage, network and compute
  • You exhibit strong planning and estimation skills, and extensive experience with agile/iterative delivery
  • You foster an environment of excellent leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to continually learn new concepts and technologies and effectively apply them
