Our Investment Operations group has approximately 900 associates globally, supporting core components of our investment offerings and growth of the business. This position resides in the Core Operations organization that supports the investment process and distribution efforts by performing accounting, fund administration, and securities operations for the investment portfolios available to Capital Group’s global clients.  The department’s strong accounting and finance capabilities, along with the agility to build new capabilities, enable superior investment outcomes and service for our clients.  We challenge ourselves to work differently, work as one team, and strive for excellence and agility in an environment that empowers us to deliver our best.  

 

We are looking for a strong leader to help move the business forward and meet future business challenges. As a member of the Sr. Management team, this role will be based in our IRV location and will have broad responsibilities for the department in addition to providing strategic thought leadership and direction to an assigned management team leading cross-site functions. Assigned functional team will be determined upon final candidate selection and will represent core production capabilities; which may include reconciliations, valuation of securities, trade processing and settlement, collateral management, among other functions. The Senior Manager will play an integral role in setting goals and objectives for the department as well as long term, strategic planning and will be expected to have a hands-on approach to managing the operations as well as direct involvement in performance management and the coaching process for associates. The ideal candidate should possess sound strategic thinking skills and an ability to champion and drive change. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide strong leadership at management and team levels.

• Set the tone in the department and ensure that the Capital Group's core values and philosophy are reflected through consistent role modeling.

• Participate in the overall management of the department, including management of resources,  operational risk, and fiscal management.

• Provide a global and strategic context for associates regarding company-wide developments and department initiatives.

• Partners with business stakeholders to manage strategic projects and initiatives.

• Build a high performing team, including performance management and development of future leaders, as well as manage, motivate, coach and inspire associates on the team.

• Develop business networks internally as well as externally by building strong working relationships with peers and participating in cross organization initiatives.

• Develop a deep understanding of industry products, practices and services and use this knowledge to continually enhance the level of service to clients as well as the operational effectiveness of the business.

• Ensure that the team continually meets high standards for delivering quality results. 

 

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of leadership experience; people management experience required.

• A demonstrated track record in leading diverse and complex operations and projects in an environment where the ability to influence is critically important.

• Successful leadership experience in a large, complex, global company; experience in the financial services industry or public accounting a plus, but not required.

• An undergraduate degree required; CPA, MBA or other related degree a plus

• Demonstrated sound strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate strategic ideas into the implementation of a long term vision at local and global levels

• Ability to harness critical thinking skills, communication skills and build credibility to influence others

• Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with internal associates, external clients, and vendors

• Ability to work in a collaborative environment, to give and receive input, and consider a broad range of perspectives and incorporate such perspectives in making decisions

• Well-developed project management skills, honed through experience on a variety of complex initiatives

• Ability to think innovatively and in an integrated fashion; conceptualize and grasp broad and complex ideas and leads others in developing business plans

• Drives to take the initiative, responds quickly to problems and takes decisive action, demonstrates managerial courage when dealing with difficult and ambiguous situations

• Exhibits a high level of flexibility and adaptability and is able to change plans or approaches as the business circumstances demand; possesses a strong self-evaluative nature and is able to accept feedback and adapt as necessary
