Under limited direction, the Senior Program Manager will drive delivery of Capital Group’s most critical business & technology initiatives.  Expected to lead with an influential point of view.  Area of focus will include a range of projects from the Technology Service & Operations group, Investment Operations, Global Business Services, and American Funds Service Group – inclusive of both business and technology efforts.  Will lead a team consisting of a mix of project managers, senior project analysts, project analysts/associates and subcontractors to accomplish this work.  Requires strong communication skills, ability to influence senior leaders, and an ability to apply and lead flexible delivery models to execute the work.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with HR Leadership Team to help define a clear set of programs and initiatives to achieve our HR strategic priorities; contribute a point of view to help shape the discussion
  • Bring a strong change management perspective to the discussion, assisting the HR Leadership team in evaluating how to gain acceptance and adoption of our initiatives across a wide range of business partners
  • Work closely with business and technology leaders to define flexible delivery approaches for our work; emphasize methods that reward rapid iteration and frequent value delivery
  • Ensure clear executive support/championship exists for our initiatives, effective prioritization is being applied, and key accountabilities are understood and adopted; drive expectations management
  • Ensure acceptance and adoption of the changes being caused by assigned projects/programs; drive change management and business readiness
  • Coach team members through a matrix environment; provide guidance and leadership to project managers, senior project analysts, project analysts, and project associates
  • Lead teams in organizing the work; apply the right level of critical path analysis, work planning, etc
  • Clearly communicate the objectives of the initiative, how they will be accomplished, and be able to pivot in the moment with senior leaders to dynamically change course; lead the group through the work

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree (particularly MBA) is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of project/program management experience leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven success with strategic and/or operational project delivery experience (business strategy, process improvement, change management, etc.)
  • Ability to apply and lead flexible delivery models to execute the work
  • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to ensure delivery execution
  • Experience in leading an organization through change
  • Strong communicator with proven ability to influence senior leaders
