Our Investment Operations group has approximately 900 associates globally, supporting core components of our investment offerings and growth of the business. Core Operations supports the investment process and distribution efforts by performing accounting, fund administration, and securities operations for the investment portfolios available to Capital Group’s global clients. The department’s strong accounting and finance capabilities, along with the agility to build new capabilities, enable superior investment outcomes and service for our clients. Key responsibilities include daily valuation of securities, trade processing and settlement, corporate actions research and processing, collateral management, and accounting, including net asset value determination and financial reporting.

 

As a Senior Tax Analyst based in Irvine, CA you will work on the Tax Team which focuses on tax fund accounting for our mutual funds. You will play a key role as a technical subject matter expert and will provide guidance to others. You will be expected to answer questions, contribute to discussions, and encourage others to share their perspective. You will perform tax compliance functions, including planning, monitoring, analyzing, accounting, and reporting for all investment entities and shareholders. You will also be expected to assist Treasurers with distribution requirements and tax strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review, approve information/entries and supporting documentation with increasing complexity to ensure accounting and tax records as well as investment vehicle data are accurate
  • Research and analyze complex tax matters and recommend solutions; identify the root cause of issues and lead implementation of solutions
  • Lead and/or participate in projects and team/department initiatives
  • Monitor external service providers; assess and track vendor performance
  • Review and reconcile tax reports and respond to ad hoc requests
  • Lead and/or participate in technical training for other associates
  • Consult with other departments and provide guidance on operational issues and technical questions

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; CPA or Masters of Taxation and/or relevant advanced degree is preferred
  • 6+ years tax experience required with experience leading people, processes, and/or projects
  • Strong technical systems skills, especially in Microsoft Excel
  • Interest and ability to learn the investment management industry as it relates to US and non US tax regulations, investment mandates, investment vehicle structures, investment operations, third party providers, competitive landscape, reporting and regulatory environment
  • Exceptional standard of quality involving accuracy, attention to detail, organization, self-review skills, thoughtful analysis, problem solving, and accountability
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
