You develop an in-depth knowledge in the counterparty space and helps drive the business forward.  Provides guidance and solutions to refine the counterparty risk group process for all types of counterparties.  Helps set the tone within the group by consistently modelling and supporting Capital’s core values. Leads and/or participates in high visibility counterparty projects with broad business impacts.  Develops leadership skills to enable a high degree of influence to shape new business processes related to all types of counterparties.  Utilizes skills to engage with external market participants as an advocate in the counterparty field.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes counterparty risk for all types of counterparties and helps the team assess new and reaffirmations of approximately 600 counterparties.
  • Learns to assess all types of counterparties including trading, securities-lending or sponsor/AF (ETF related).
  • Shall be the subject matter expert on counterparty risk and leads CG’s response in audit, regulatory and RFP requests.
  • Responsible for maintaining the data in the counterparty system and acting as the business owner /SME for the system.
  • Works closely with the product and engineering team to prioritize and rollout system enhancements.
  • Primary point of contact for counterparty related queries from other CG teams and supports several internal teams primarily trading, legal and trade operations.
  • Develops an understanding of settlement risk pertaining to local markets and assets classes in order to accurately analyze counterparty risk.
  • Manages a list of approved counterparties, sets priorities, meets deadlines and works independently within established guidelines.
  • Develops basic financial statement/ratio analysis knowledge 
  • Develops an understanding of the process to monitor relevant counterparty developments (i.e., ratings, disciplinary actions, market news, etc.).
  •  Stays abreast of industry developments, market best practices and drives change as a thought leader for the benefit of CG, its clients, and the industry.
