Information & Insights, a department within Capital Group’s Investment Operations, delivers a comprehensive set of data capabilities that enable Capital Group's investment data strategy.  Our Data Solutions teams are focused on implementing that data strategy to enable the full range of business objectives: data for minimizing risk, data for efficient processes, and data for growth and innovation.  We also deploy a set of capabilities to source, automate, and curate data assets.  This enables and enriches core investment and distribution processes, reporting, analysis, and advanced analytics efforts.  Data is a strategic focus for Capital Group and exciting transformations are underway.

 

As a Data Solutions Specialist based in Los Angeles, you will play an integral role in providing technical thought leadership across multiple teams and strategic investment management related data initiatives.  You will serve as one of the principle relationship owners between our business and technology partners. You will lead engagements that align data solutions to enterprise standards, industry best practices, and business needs.  You will act as a hands-on leader and expert who possess the ability to shift between a technical and business context.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and influence the design and development of complex data delivery, data management, and data visualization solutions.
  • Lead and influence complex, cross functional designs across teams
  • Work with complex data structures and develop innovative solutions to solve for data needs
  • Partner with Information and Application Architects to design and influence data models and application architectures
  • As a thought leader, establish standards and best practices across cross functional teams, leveraging a deep enterprise and understanding of industry best practices
  • Establish partnerships with senior business leaders to identify emerging solution opportunities, leveraging subject matter expertise on business processes, data needs and data gaps.
  • Provide leadership to associates and lead strategic projects for the department

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field;  Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience leading the design and development of large scale data management and delivery solutions
  • Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, information architecture and data warehousing
  • Demonstrated expertise with SQL, scripting for automation (R, Python) and reporting/visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including a demonstrated ability to effectively translate challenges, needs and solutions across senior technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated understanding of Hadoop, NoSQL solutions and Machine Learning
