The Fixed Income Group is seeking an experienced municipal bond trader who will be responsible for identifying opportunities and executing municipal bond trades. The trader will work with 3 other experienced municipal bond traders, located in Los Angeles. Capital Fixed Income Investors (CFII) has been managing fixed-income strategies since 1973 and has over $320bn in assets under management. Capital Group is a leader in the municipal bond field, and has over $30bn in dedicated holdings. We have an experienced team of 32 traders in Los Angeles, London, Singapore and New York. This position will be based in Los Angeles or New York.


Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Execute trades and identify trading strategies/investment opportunities in the municipal bond market
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, with investment group colleagues and sell side counter-parties
  • Collaborate with Capital’s investment professionals worldwide to discuss market trends and investment strategies
  • Liaise with Investment Operations and other fixed income business units to maintain order flow integrity, monitor risk and improve communication
  • Perform additional responsibilities and undertake special projects as assigned



  • Minimum of 4 years’ prior experience of Fixed Income Trading experience, with strong focus on the municipal bond market. Knowledge of NY market desirable.
  • Preference for trader with trading experience across the curve, and both high grade and high yield sector exposure
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with Excel and other analytical tools
  • Tech-savvy, with ability to adopt new technology and champion use of new tools and systems
  • Able to work calmly, flexibly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in business, economics or other quantitative major
  • CFA desirable
