This leader within our Marketing organization will be responsible for marketing strategy, our core marketing and retention content creation for a broad range of retirement plan services products and services, including our proprietary retirement recordkeeping solutions and SIMPLE IRAs for multiple audiences – financial advisors, plan sponsors, participants and TPAs. With the retirement savings crisis in America, this role plays a noble role in helping plan sponsors choose the right retirement provider (we have more close to 60k plans) and helping financial intermediaries drive participant outcomes (we have about 1.2 million participants) and help people live the retirement dreams they can imagine. This role is unique in our 300+ person Marketing organization in that the person must navigate a high degree of complexity with stakeholders ranging from Sales, Product, Service and other Marketing areas that use the marketing materials this team creates. 

As a key leader of a product marketing team, you will be critical to helping achieve our business goal of $20b in annual sales for our small-size retirement plan business. The position partners closely day-to-day with key cross-functional Marketing partners, including creative, designers, digital, agencies, etc. In addition to developing, creating and implementing product marketing strategies and core content, she/he will lead conception of external product campaigns falling within the team’s responsibility, to support and build the Capital Group and American Funds brands for our retirement plan services. 


  • Lead an agile marketing team, tasked with marketing leadership, support and core content for our retirement plan services businesses.
  • Develop strategies and manage execution of projects which help achieve NAD’s retirement business objectives, including new product launches, enhancements and extension / ongoing support for existing products.  
  • Gain a deep understanding of the needs and preferences of our small-plan retirement plan audiences, as well as a strong technical grounding in the distinguishing characteristics of our products and services, to enable creation and deployment of effective marketing strategies that differentiate our offerings.
  • Serve as key point person for the marketing team with designated stakeholders for the relevant product areas across product, sales, service and other marketing functions. Manage regular interactions with stakeholders and a well-defined intake process for business requests governed by overall business goals.
  • Lead the development and execution of differentiated, effective and break-through communications across multiple digital channels.  Partner with external agencies, internal senior marketing and digital leaders to develop optimal execution of product campaigns in line with annual and long-term business plans.
  • Provide content for the development of long term business cases to fund key product marketing initiatives. Provide oversight of assigned budgets to ensure alignment of spending to business goals.
  • Track impact of product marketing activities against defined success metrics. The Initiative Manager is jointly accountable for achievement of the team’s overall scorecard goals.
  • Provide overall guidance and workflow management to other marketing associates within the pod sub-team. 



  • A minimum of 7+ years of direct experience in Marketing Strategy & Execution, with some experience in retirement plan product marketing. Financial Services and Retirement Product marketing experience is critical.
  • A proven track record of developing and executing insights-driven marketing plans that contribute to delivery of business outcomes. Good grasp of how to translate business objectives into Marketing and Sales programs that achieve both short-term and long-term goals. 
  • Strong skills in marketing strategy development and content execution across the marketing mix including research, consumer insights, communications, innovation/product/concept development, advertising, PR and trade/customer marketing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence others. Effective in leading a variety of meetings with an executive presence and demonstrated track record of partnering with senior business leaders.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment would be a plus, as well as expertise in digital marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree / MBA strongly preferred.
