As the Senior Manager, Legal Strategy & Operations, you will act as a strategic partner to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and the Legal Management Group (LMG), overseeing all areas related to legal operations. You will manage a wide range of strategic business planning initiatives, provide operational oversight, which may include, but is not limited to the strategic planning process, financial management, technology and process support, vendor management, information governance and record management, portfolio management, and communications. You influence by cultivating strong partnerships with key stakeholders within Legal and Compliance and across Capital Group.

 

  • You will partner closely with the LMG in the development and execution of the department’s strategic planning process
  • You will lead and coordinate the operational and business management functions for Legal and Compliance.
    • Create a long-term technology roadmap, including the implementation and management of tools such as e-billing/matter management, electronic discovery, contract management, document management, IP management, business process management, e-signature, legal hold, etc.
    • Create an outside counsel and vendor management program to ensure quality outside counsel support at the right rates and under optimal fee arrangements. Hold regular business reviews. Negotiate fee and retainer agreements in partnership with the attorneys. Drive governance of billing guidelines.
    • Support and manage the reporting of all aspects of the legal and compliance budget, including annual and long-term operational and capital expense forecasts.
  • You will enable efficiencies by creating seamless access to legal & department institutional knowledge.
  • You will administer a records management program, including a record retention schedule and policies and processes.
  • You will oversee a portfolio of projects within Legal and Compliance to ensure alignment with business plans and strategy. You will sponsor and/or lead initiatives and projects with broad business impact.
  • You will support and/or develop and execute the communication strategy for Legal and Compliance broadly, as well as advise CLO on communication and engagement opportunities with other leaders, associates, and external organizations.
