As the Learning and Development Manager, you will provide high-quality, interactive training and development activities through various delivery methods such as classroom, e-learning, blended learning, learning portals, and coaching (one-on-one as needed) to the Fundamental Research Group and Capital Associates Program (“CAP”). Plan and manage broad and targeted learning initiatives across multiple groups, with the objectives of increasing associates’ effectiveness via improvements in technical and functional skillsets as well as broader business acumen. You will be a key member of the leadership team and understand how to build a learning and development strategy aligned with organizational objectives.

 

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

 

  • Establish and execute a learning and development strategy for the Fundamental Research Group and CAP
    • Partner with other leaders to define skillsets and competencies required by role and assess training needs
    • Determine processes and practices for ongoing evaluation of skills and competencies needs across the groups
    • Define a holistic development experience for the lifecycle of the Fundamental Research Group roles
    • Define a curriculum and series of ongoing training activities to support the 3-year CAP experience
    • Identify opportunities for consistency, and nuanced approaches, and stay abreast of external trends, research, best practices
    • Identify and track measurable outcomes of curriculum
    • Build a business case for the future state (size, scope, structure) of the learning team
    • Collaborate with Capital’s L&D function to drive synergies, best practices, and implement enterprise-level programming.
  • Oversee and evaluate key Learning and Development initiatives
    • Integrate up-to-date business/industry knowledge and an understanding of Capital’s business model and strategy into decision-making
    • Oversee the definition, development, and implementation of specific initiatives across relevant roles
    • Own and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure appropriate integration of outside training programs
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of development offerings
    • Manage learning and development related budgets and expenses
    • Create feedback loops and track metrics to determine trends:  innovate, pilot and improve
  • Participate in general management activities of the Fundamental Research Group and CAP
    • Engage with other leaders across Fundamental Research Group and CAP in department-wide programs and initiatives
    • Provide guidance for associates to share and learn from each other
    • Partner with business leaders, L&D and HR to provide individualized, onboarding, development or training programs for associates and/or managers as appropriate
    • Think globally and strategically; consider cross-function and cross-border issues and impacts when managing local business issues and priorities and designing training

Desired experience:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in related field preferred (Teaching, Instructional Design, Education Technology, etc.)
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive learning and development experience
  • Minimum of 3 years working in the financial services industry at or with a bank or asset manager
  • Ability to coach, mentor and lead teams is a plus
  • 2-3 years working as an investment banking analyst/associate, financial analyst, consultant, or accountant is a plus
  • Experience developing a learning and development strategy, articulating that strategy effectively across the organization and executing for measurable results

  • You are a learner and you develop strong, relevant relationships inside and outside of Capital and shares best practices.
  • You lead by example and model inclusive behavior that inspires and influences leaders across Capital to adopt and champion DE&I programs and initiatives
