At Capital Group, how we work is defined by shared values that include absolute integrity, respect and collaboration. But it’s more than that. It’s smart and highly driven people united in purpose to serve our investors and one another.

Bring your energy and unique perspective to Capital and you’ll have the opportunity to grow with us professionally, personally, and financially. You’ll be part of a team that genuinely cares about helping you succeed. You’ll work alongside talented colleagues, many of whom build long careers while progressing through multiple roles, establishing lifelong friendships and making a difference in our communities. In return for your contributions, you’ll receive premier compensation and benefits, and a company-funded retirement plan that ranks among the most generous.

The Vehicle Flexibility program (VFlex) continues to grow in scope as Capital Group seeks to make our investment services available to a wider range of clients, across multiple geographies and vehicles, than we can reach with the existing American Funds. The intent, as closely as possible, is to replicate fund investment objectives and underlying fund results in the new vehicle, while minimizing the impact to investment professionals in terms of time spent and complexity. We have a dedicated team of associates in London and Los Angeles who are engaged in building this capability, and we are seeking to augment the team with a Los Angeles based associate who understands Capital’s investment process in fixed income. Existing knowledge of quantitative financial models or comfort with learning within a quantitative setting is a positive.

Responsibilities of the Vehicle Flexibility Specialist include:

Vehicle Research, Process Development and Improvement:
•    Understand the inner workings of the strategies, the specific environment within which the strategies are implemented, and the core objectives of each of the funds and vehicles.
•    Identify and respond to research questions from the daily rebalance process before and as they arise. Work with the broader VFlex team to identify opportunities for continuously improving the strategies.
•    Evaluate the construction and performance of the replicated vehicle and ensure the strategies are working as expected. Fix and trouble shoot the strategies as needed.
•    Participate in broader research questions, design and build-out of the VFlex capability in service of driving to "best execution" for vehicles.
•    Make recommendations for continuous improvement that are in support of Capital’s VFlex program – interactions with IT are regular and continue to provide significant areas for improvement.
•    Maintain and administrate models for vehicles.
Vehicle Daily Process:
•    Collaborate with the other members of the team to own and execute the daily process for VFlex vehicles.
•    Generate the daily recommended trade lists for all relevant vehicles.
•    Ensure timely delivery of the decisions, the integrity of the operations, quality control, responsiveness to GIC, and the Vehicle Portfolio Manager/Portfolio Strategist approval process.
•    Interpret output, understand differences, identify causes, and explore alternatives, as necessary.
•    Work with IT to maintain the model/data environment and support evolution of decision-making support systems and structures.
•    Work closely with senior PMs and other parties to resolve the most complex portfolio transition and re-balancing issues.
•    Completes the most complex re-balancing tasks across different accounts using various tools, models, and portfolio optimization technique.
•    Designs, implements, and improves workflows and approaches.

•    Demonstrated passion and experience with investment instruments, markets and the investment process.
•    A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in an analytical role. A 4-year degree is required, ideally in a quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, finance or economics).
•    Comprehensive understanding of investment products, asset allocation, securities operations and the servicing requirements of accounts.
•    Demonstrated sound judgment in resolving matters of complexity.
•    Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
•    Demonstrated quantitative capability.
•    Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of associates including Investment Group, Trading, IT and GIC.
•    Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deliverable deadlines.
•    Ability to identify, assess, respond to, and escalate risks and issues. Self-motivated, takes initiatives and demonstrates commitment to continuously improve skills.
