The Investment Product Specialist Manager is part of the Investment Product Services (IPS) team within Capital Group’s (CG) Europe and Asia business. IPS partners with Investment Specialists (IS) to deliver deep expertise on CG’s investment strategies both internally and externally. The IPS and IS teams are two sides of the same coin, with IS focusing on external meetings, and IPS originating investment insights for use by the IS team and thinking strategically about the evolution of the product set. Both IPS and IS work closely with the Client and Marketing teams. 

 

This role will have two key components, one of which is to generate insights on our equity range, the other is to manage many of the Asia-based members of the IPS team.

  • The equity component will require the individual to develop expertise in a few of CG’s equity strategies. The individual will need to be able to quickly develop a deep understanding of Capital Group’s investment approach, and an ability to synthesise investment and market research to enable CG associates to speak credibly to its strengths. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work directly with the Portfolio Managers and Analysts in developing ideas. The specific product coverage is to be determined and may depend on the previous experience of the candidate.
  • The managerial component of the role means there is a strong preference for individuals with current experience managing teams alongside direct role responsibilities. Specifically, this individual will manage Investment Product Specialists based in Asia.

 

This individual must also have two key qualities: self-motivation, and highly collaborative across multiple teams and geographies.

 

This is a new role, and the successful individual will have a significant opportunity to define and develop a broadening set of responsibilities over time.

 

  • Works closely with fund managers to understand investment ideas and participates in regular investment meetings for priority products
  • Creates and updates materials to support the Investment Specialists and sales teams in marketing and product positioning activity for client meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Develops key messages to differentiate Capital Group products and adapt for country and/or investor segment considerations
  • Conducts analysis on market trends and competitive dynamics to understand investor requirements and how it impacts our product offering
  • Advocates for the equity offering, working with Investment Specialists, Marketing and Client teams to establish agreement on sales strategy, marketing approach and client requirements
  • Contributes to the overall strategy of Capital Group’s equity business, including new product strategy efforts
  • Manages many of the IPS associates based in Asia, with a goal of fostering a high-performing team
  • Leads energetically, developing a vision, communicating goals, and managing a balanced allocation of activities across team members
  • Builds positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders inside and outside of Asia through understanding their issues and showing them the benefits of partnering as a team
