As a Product Development Manager for Capital Group’s Canadian product portfolio, based in Toronto, you will serve as a key member of a small, rapidly-growing business within the larger Capital Group organization. We operate in an entrepreneurial fashion; every associate has a voice and makes an active contribution to our business growth. Capital Group has been serving Canadian individual investors since 2000 and has roughly $10 billion in assets under management. You will develop the long-term product strategy for wealth management and institutional channels in Canada.  You will identify product development opportunities, and ensure the current products are competitive, relevant, and appropriately positioned in the Canadian market and to achieve long-term business objectives.  In addition, you will be exposed to a range of business functions that will help broaden your skills and provide exposure to development opportunities.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop long-term product strategy for each market segment
  • Assess current product lineup, digital tools and enhancements
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Canadian marketplace, including regulatory environment, competitors and investor trends
  • Identify product development opportunities and manage new product development
  • Provide support for current product lineup
  • Contribute to quarterly commentary and regulatory reports
  • Develop thought leadership, marketing materials and digital tools

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of asset management product experience with in-depth knowledge of capital markets, investment products, strategies and solutions, as well as an eye toward the competitive landscape and marketplace trends
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills, coupled with a proactive approach.
  • Curiosity and passion for sales and marketing, including an in-depth understanding of client needs.
  • Builds rapport with Sales/National Accounts/Institutional teams.
  • Ability to develop both product and project plans with little direction and to execute in a collaborative manner with extreme attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop recommendations and support assertions with relevant quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Builds rapport with internal and external networks.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CIMA or CFA a plus.
